bent concrete side table

Date: 2013

Project Description: For the Advanced Fiber Reinforced Concrete Training Curriculum I was tasked with developing two projects on a Thursday. The training was scheduled to start on Monday morning, so this was a quick process.

My Role: I cut out the positive from 3/4″ Melamine and then created a rubber mold. The idea is to bend the mix just as it’s entered a “false set”. Not too soon or it will slump down, and not too late because it will crack. The result is a bent piece from a mold that can be used again and again. As usual I documented the process and shared it online.

Metrics: This was one of the more popular Instructables and in a few days it reached something like 50,000 views. Today it has about 125,000 and the piece continues to interest everyone who sees it in person.
