concrete stepping stone molds

concrete_step_stone_main910c

A series of concrete stepping stone molds were modeled in Autodesk Inventor and cut on a CNC router. An automotive finish was then achieved through the use of vinyl esther resin or primer and clear coat. From there a polyurethane rubber mold was cast, and finally identical master molds were made using an aluminized epoxy that is designed for vacuum forming. Hundreds of very small holes were drilled and the masters were mounted together on a sheet of plywood in a way that would minimize webbing or other issues and also minimize the amount of plastic wasted. They are vacuum formed in Oakland, California and available for sale through CHENG Concrete. Berkeley, California 2012.
