I traveled to the UK from Denmark for a neon workshop. I'm a decent lampworker and have used the torch a lot, but the transition over to neon wasn't easy. It took a lot of practice to use a handheld torch with any sort of skill, and the glass melts at a different temperature than I was used to, so that was tricky too.

We had the chance to make anything, and I wanted to make some lights that would provide ambient light. I sketched out some shapes and then mocked them up with wire. I had to make each piece in sections rather than doing it in one continuous bend because it was so difficult.

The blue light developed an interesting wavering effect. I tried to research why this happens but it wasn't clear. If it could be reproduced, it would be really cool. I think it has something to do with one of the electrodes. It went away over time. Check it out in the video below.
