At work we have a lot of different concrete color samples. Some of them are to show customers what colors are available, but the majority of them were buried in cardboard boxes. Most of the samples have a code which corresponds to a spreadsheet so you’re able to figure out what mix it is, what pigments were used, and what the overall pigment load is. The first part of this job was to organize the samples by color and then take photographs of them. A lot of the samples weren’t in the spreadsheet, so I had to make new codes and keep everything very organized so I don’t get out of order when taking the 1200 photos. That part kind of sucked, but building the rack for them was fun.

The rack is pretty simple and was quick to build. 1×1″s are screwed to the wall, into the studs. These are 8′ long. Then each slat is faced with a 3/8″ x 2-1/4″ strip of wood.

It’s nice to see the samples all together and on the wall. Next thing is to print labels for the back of each sample and make stickers for the display to help keep it organized.
